Fight or Flight

We are all in this sport to become stronger. Some people it takes longer than others. There are many variables as to why that may be, but what I'm targeting is the way one approaches their lifts. When you walk up to the bar and it's a number you've never attempted before, you obviously feel some sort of nervousness/ anxiety about the unknown. In that moment, what will YOU do for the outcome? Talk yourself out of it? Make excuses/over-think it? Or clear your freaking mind and use all that energy from thought, to strength? Attempting a PR is new, but doing the lift is not. Do what you have done a thousand times before. I'm going to use something from my own experience here. I attempted an all-time World Record squat in my last competition in front of hundreds of people, and big name lifters I look up to. The amount of pressure leading to this lift was indescribable.. I was choking up and could not breathe walking to get under that bar. In that moment, I told myself, you do nothing but crush this weight. Knowing it has never been done before, I knew it was going to fly. So if you truly want to become the best version of yourself, you will have to go through these thoughts and battles at some point. If not, you will plateau. Commit and attack the task at hand. Always fight!
